New Year Brings New Challenges

One of the three reasons you need new year goals is because each New Year comes with a new challenge of what you want to accomplish. As the year ends and the New Year approaches, things become stalled. You would also have achieved most of your goals in the previous year. As such, you need new challenges to keep you going in the New Year.

The New Year Is An Opportunity To Review Previous Year’s Goals

It is possible to carry previous year’s goals forward into the New Year because, for some goals, the timeline could take more than one year. Just because a goal was unachieved in the previous year does not mean it should be abandoned. The New Year provides the opportunities for unachieved goals to be carried forward. When the goals are carried forward, they can be adjusted based on the present reality by adding or removing elements.

Without Goals, You Stop Growing

I do not think there are people on earth who exist without goals. Only the dead have no goals because they no longer exist and do not have wants, needs or aspirations. If peradventure there are people without goals, it means they have stopped growing. As you go through life, new needs arise because things change. This is why there is a need for new goals if you want to be on a par with advancements in the world. If you refuse to grow, you will be left behind and become irrelevant.

It is important to continue to set new goals and more importantly to write them down. When setting and writing down goals, use the SMART framework. SMART means specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound. You can set smart goals by putting them into categories e.g. financial, career, family etc. I created a goal-getting planner that I have used over the years for my goals. I have made it available for you but guess what? It is free. Click on the link below to download it.
